Rules and Regulations

Chapter 1 General Rules
Article 1 (Name of the organization)
This Federation is referred to as the “International Joshinmon Shorinryu Karatedo Federation (abbreviation I.J.S.K.F.)” or “International Joshinmon”.
Article 2 (Office Location)
The address of the office of the International Joshinmon is at Terrace Anfini 103, 3-4-1, Daita, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo.
Article 3 (Objectives)
International Joshinmon aims to spread and develop comprehensive martial arts with a focus on Karate in accordance with its style.
Article 4 (Work and activities)
International Joshinmon performs following work and activities in order to reach objectives mentioned above.
1. Establishment of the system of guidance and improvement of techniques based on the style.
2. Organizing of various events such as grading tests, workshops and competitions.
3. Other matters related to the achievement of the objectives mentioned above.International Joshinmon aims to spread and develop comprehensive martial arts with a focus on Karate in accordance with its style.
Chapter 2 Certification of member countries
Article 5 (Certification)
1. Countries which agree with the objectives of International Joshinmon and wish to become a certified member countries (hereinafter “Accession applicant countries”), must send a representative to Japan to get an interview with Soshihan to get an approval from him/her. However, Soshihan may, at his/her discretion, waive this interview requirement.
2. Accession applicant countries must submit a document stating the number of affiliated members to the Headquarters “Hon-in” (through the International Headquarters “Honbu”. The same contact route applies throughout this document) and remit the registration fee designated by Hon-in at designated bank account.
3. An accession applicant country after completing the procedures stipulated in the previous 2 clauses, may receive a member certification issued by Hon-in with the consent of Soshihan, then only becomes a certified member country.
4. Certified member counties must carefully keep the member certificate mentioned in the previous clause.
Article 6 (Renewal)
Membership of certified member countries expires on the 31st of December every year. Certified members may renew their membership for the following year by completing the payment of annual membership fee in accordance with the procedures stipulated in Article 5 Clause 2.
Article 7 (Rights and obligations)
1. Certified member countries may recruit members in their countries at their discretion and their responsibility and may conduct activities and work defined in the Article 4 (excluding the grading of the 3d dan and above). However, recruitment of the members will not be based on their race, gender, ideology or religion.
2. Certified member countries must inform all instructions addressed to the members by Hon-in and this Rules and Regulations to its members, and the members must fully comply with such instructions and the Rules and Regulations.
3. Certified member countries with Jikimonsei (immediate disciples of Soke) may authorize its Jikimonsei as a grading examiner in its country, who may certify the grades Dan and Kyu up to 2nd Dan according to the skill level of technique of the members. However, for the certification of the 1st to 2nd Dan, the certificates must be issued by Hon-in after the submission of the application for certificate issuance and payment of the certificate fee set by Hon-in.
4. Certified member countries must report in advance about all events of International Joshinmon, its content, time and presence of members from other member countries.
5. Certified member countries must inform in advance and obtain permission from Hon-in when they intend to issue any publication or electromagnetic records about the doctrine of the International Joshinmon.
6. Certified member countries must assign a representative who will be present at the International Conference as a representative of the member country. For all communication with Hon-in must go through this representative of the country. In case of change of representative, it must be reported to the Hon-in with no delay.
Chapter 3 The organization
Article 8 (Hon-in)
1. Hon-in is decision-making body of the International Joshinmon, governed by Soshihan.
2. Hon-in establishes an International Headquarters (Honbu) in order to carry out its work.
3. Hon-in may convene an International Conference comprised of representatives of certified member countries as necessary, or may give instructions and contact certified member countries, and may request reports and opinions from certified member countries.
Chapter 4 System of Jikimonsei (immediate disciples)
Article 9 (Jikimonsei)
Those members of International Joshinmon, who possess 3rd Dan or higher and a “blue passport” awarded by Soshihan are defined as Jikimonsei (immediate disciples) of Joshinmon.
Article 10 (Examination)
1. Examination of the 3rd Dan and above may be granted only to those members, who are considered to possess adequate technique and superior personality as middle-level managers by the representative of the certified member country, and who is also recommended to Hon-in by the representative, upon payment of certification fee to the Hon-in.
2. Hon-in will conduct an examination if recommendation is received as in previous clause, either in Japan or in the relevant certified member country by Soshihan or Jikimonsei appointed by Soshihan as an examiner.
Article 11 (Renewal)
The validity of qualification of Jikimonsei is 2 years. However, Jikimonsei may renew his/her Jikimonsei qualification by paying the renewal fee of 10,000 yen at least 3 month before the expiry of their qualifications to extend his/her qualification for another 2 years.
Chapter 5 Joshinmon emblem
Article 12 (Ownership of rights)
Emblem of Joshinmon (Trademark registration in Japan No. 4262828. Hereinafter referred to as “Emblem”) was created by the Founder of the style Ikeda Hoshu and all rights relating the Emblem are reserved by the Soshihan.
Article 13 (Usage of Emblem)
Certified member countries may use the Emblem when it is necessary for the achievement of the objectives from the Article 3 and with the compliance of the followings:
1. When the Emblem is used it must be accurately depicted and referenced.
2. In use of the Emblem, always hold conscience and responsibility with the Emblem, a creation by the Founder of the style Ikeda Hoshu.
3. When you use the Emblem in your own goods, submit a specimen to the Hon-in.
4. Notwithstanding the previous clause, when you intend to create your own goods using the Emblem for commercial purposes, you must obtain a permission from the Hon-in in advance. If Hon-in determines to collect Emblem usage fee, the fee set by the Hon-in must be paid.
Article 14 (Prohibition of use)
Should Soshihan determine the methods and aspects of the usage of the Emblem by certified member country is inappropriate, she can ban the usage of the Emblem by the certified member country.
Chapter 6. Amendments.
Article 15 (Amendments of thEsE rules and regulations)
Soshihan can amend these Rules and regulations, when he/she considers it necessary.

Chapter 7. Others.
Article 16 (Replacement followed by succession of the name)
By the will of the First Soke Ikeda Hoshu effective from January 1, 2017, the name “Soshihan” will be succeeded to the Second Soke Ikeda Hoshu. From this date name “Soshihan” in this Rules and regulations shall be interpreted as “The Second Soke Ikeda Hoshu”.
Article 17 (Doubts of the Rules and regulations)
In case there are any doubts in the interpretation of this Rules and regulations, Japanese version prevails. Subjects which are not stipulated in this Rules and regulations can be determined at the sole discretion of Soshihan.
Article 18 (Governing law)
This Rules and regulations is compatible with Japanese law and interpreted in accordance with Japanese law.
Article 19 (Exclusive jurisdiction)
All disputes related to this Rules and regulations are under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
Appendix
Article 1(Enforcement date)
These Rules and Regulations will come into force from October 22, 2016.
